1928 LAGONDA 2/4.5 High Chassis T1 Tourer | Vintage Lagonda For Sale

This is a very exciting project that needs finishing. All the hard work has been done, it’s mechanically complete and restored. Engine has been started basically needing painting, trimming and wiring. One of the black and white pictures shows this car in period at Brooklands wearing #15. And as of 11th June 2025, the engine is now up and running, has all been set up and the car is now drivable.

The 1928 LAGONDA High Chassis is an extremely successful conversion which has been proven on many events such as London to Cape Town, Peking to Paris and many other long distance events and still retains all of the fantastic characteristics and details of the High Chassis car. It’s light and nimble with fantastic performance.

This Lagonda is an original High Chassis T1 tourer with its original coachwork which I bought many years ago in a very sad state. It was mechanically incomplete needing a total restoration. During its restoration the Lagonda has been upgraded with a meadows engine, G9 Gearbox, 4 1/2 differential and halfshafts. Now mechanically totally restored and the engine has run. Body is completely restored and covered in Rexene with the proof criss cross pattern embossed.

ENGINE: Original sanction crank case with four bolt main bearing caps and 9/16 studs securing cylinder block. New cylinder block and pistons.

New crank & rods. New camshaft with improved lift and duration timing gears and chains. Original cylinder head with new valves guides springs etc. New water and oil pumps. New flywheel with Borg & Beck clutch in M45 bell housing. Rebuilt magneto, starter, distributor and dynamo/alternator. All balanced.

GEARBOX: G9 Completely rebuilt all new bearings and seals.

REAR AXLE:  4 1/2 differential completely rebuilt with New high ratio crown wheel 3.3:1.

4 1/2 Half shafts with new bearings & seals.

FRONT AXLE: Completely rebuilt with new bearings seals and king pins.

STEERING BOX: Completely rebuilt.

CHASSIS: Alignment checked blasted and painted.

Wheel boxes and compensators, pedal shaft and central lubrication system all restored.

BRAKES: All new linings and all cut in. New aluminium finned drums. New brake cables. Handbrake assembly rebuilt and plated.

SUSPENSION: Springs all reset and uprated. Gaiters fitted to all springs.

Shock absorbers all rebuilt.

BODY: Ash frame completely rebuilt, scratched panelled and covered with rexene.

Body has all fixtures and fitting and where required nickel plated.

Hood frame repaired and painted with brass frame rear windows for hood. Sides screens unrestored.

Windscreen plated glazed and fitted.

Bonnet fitted, needs catches fitting.

Deck boards all done.

Wings and wings iron need fitting.

Front valance fitted.

FUEL: System has a new large capacity fuel tank.

Twin delivery fuel system all finished.

RADIATOR: German silver completely rebuilt with larger head tank.

WHEELS & TYRES: All new.

LIGHTS: Headlamp P80 Bulleyes, CAV torpedo side lamps and tail lamps all restored.

INSTRUMENTS: All original but need restoration.

PLATING: Everything is plated.

WIRING: Looms all clipped into chassis.

This is my own project which has been the subject of a top quality restoration and is totally complete missing no parts. Needing painting trimming and wiring to finish.
