VSCC RACE 23rd MAY 2026
Another VSCC race, this time the VCSS Race 23rd May 2026 at Donnington Park Race Circuit in Derby. It was a beautiful hot and sunny morning on Saturday. Jack and his crew camped at the race track on Friday night ready for an early start. David, preferring some home comforts, chose a nearby hotel with Roger joining the spectators on Saturday morning.
Both David and Jack were amongst the 13 cars in the line up for the Redgate Mug for Pre-War Le Mans race.
Quite a mixed variety of vehicles David in his Bentley, Jack in his Lagonda together with a Talbot Lago T23, BMW 328, Morgan Super Aero, a couple of Rileys and other Bentley and Lagonda’s.
Starting side by side on the 5th row on the grid, David said he was surprised that before he had even put his foot down client Tim Parker, whose car we look after, zoomed past him from his 6th row position and David really needed to get a trot on!
Unfortunately, both of the boys were a little out on their pit timings, with David going in too early and Jack not spending long enough in the pit, meaning both incurred a 5 second penalty, which moved them from their original finishing positions of David in 5th & Jack in 7th – perhaps the heat got to them!
Jacks 2nd race of the day was the Bill Phillips Trophy for Std & Mod Pre-War Sports Cars – ODM. This was a 9 lap race with 22 cars on the starting grid, with quite a variety of cars taking part including Fraser Nash, Alfa Romeo, Lancia & Riley.
Fortunately for Jack he didn’t incur any time penalties in this race finishing in 10th place with his fastest last coming in at 1:48:227.
